LINK Internship Program
The LINK Internship program is part of Animas High School. It is a requirement for all juniors to intern at a job for two weeks. For my internship I went to Captain Cook on the Big Island in Hawaii. I interned at Hawaii Bee company with the Gormicks at their bee farm. This was an amazing and new experience for me and I encourage people to take the time to find an awesome place to intern with awesome people, as I did! Here is the link to their site.
Their Business
They run an all-natural chemical free bee farm. They try to keep everything as natural as possible and make their own products. Their honey is extremely pure, all-natural, and has never been heated. They never have an off season because it is always warm in Hawaii. It is a family owned and operated business and I am so thankful to had the opportunity to work with them.
Photo Book Project
Each student was asked to create a project that had to do with their internship and could/would help or benefit the company they worked for. The project that I made for my internship and mentors is a photo book. It is an overall look at their business and a way to show their business to others. It includes pictures of their business, products, and family. The reason I chose to do a photo book is because it is a family owned and ran company. To show that their business is very family oriented and that the people behind the honey are real. This photo book will help my mentors, basically, show off their company and it was actually mentioned by one of my mentors, Autumn Gormick, that they have been wanting to create one. When I finish the photo book I will send it to the Gormicks, my mentors, for them to use. They plan to bring it to the farmers markets they have in town!
